Michelle Drylie Speaks at SR Mining 2013 in Chile

On Wednesday November 6, rePlan Senior Planner Michelle Drylie spoke on “Stakeholder-driven economic diversification in Northern Manitoba, Canada” at SR Mining 2013, the second annual conference on social responsibility in mining taking place November  5 - 8 in Santiago, Chile. Michelle’s presentation focused on the Thompson Economic Diversification Working Group’s (TEDWG) unique model of stakeholder engagement, along with the regulatory and strategic planning outcomes the TEDWG has achieved.

The TEDWG process represents a best practice in both procedural and technical capacity building to ensure local stakeholders can fully engage in planning for the long-term sustainability of their community. The session highlighted practical tools for remote communities faced with the challenges of changing resource industry projects and demographics and realizing into sustainable growth opportunities.  

Michelle included practical tools for Northern and Aboriginal communities seeking to transform the challenges presented by transition within resource industry and changing demographics into opportunities for sustainable growth. 

Michelle also chaired Session 11: Mining as a Development Tool.
