rePlan assists LKAB with Urban Transformation in Sweden

rePlan’s work with Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Mining Company (LKAB) in Kiruna, Sweden has been profiled in the company’s Annual and Sustainability Report 2014.

LKAB has been mining the world’s most environmentally friendly iron ore for more than 100 years. In Kiruna, home to the world’s largest and most modern underground iron ore mine, LKAB is in the process of moving much of the entire city, including its downtown, to facilitate ongoing mine expansion. rePlan Principal Graeme Burt was invited to visit LKAB’s operations several times last year to provide his perspective on the resulting resettlement and urban transformation process.

LKAB is a high-tech international minerals group, world leading producer of processed iron ore products for steelmaking, and a growing supplier of mineral products for other industrial sectors. LKAB's Annual and Sustainability Report 2014 can be read in its entirety here.
