IFC Training Course - Colombia
In 2009, rePlan collaborated with the IFC in developing and delivering a three-day training course for Latin American practitioners on land acquisition and resettlement. 30 external consultants interested in working with the IFC and other financial institutions participated in the training, which drew on case studies and practical examples to explore international best practice principles and procedures for acquiring land and resettling displaced communities.
Specific components of the training included: social impact assessment - principles, objectives and basic elements; resettlement planning and implementation - baseline information gathering, impact analysis, community consultation and negotiations, and participatory planning; developing a compensation framework, including livelihoods re-establishment and enhancement programs and assistance for vulnerable groups; and monitoring, evaluation and reporting processes and procedures.
