Mining Regulations of Sierra Leone

Working with the Ministry of Mines and Minerals and Sierra Leone Environmental Protection Agency, rePlan prepared a resettlement policy framework and resettlement regulations in support of the Environmental Protection Act 2008 for mineral and mining rights granted under the Mines and Minerals Act of 2009. The regulations establish national requirements for mining proponents engaging in involuntary resettlement and established policy direction for inter-governmental coordination of resettlement planning, new town development and associated social and physical infrastructure. Work involved consultation with key government ministries responsible for land development in the country.
