Mongolia Urban Development

The Urban Development Sector Project (UDSP) supports efforts of the Government of Mongolia to provide sustainable and affordable infrastructure and urban services to residents in the country’s peri-urban ger areas. rePlan led planning and implementation of land acquisition and resettlement (LAR) activities associated with UDSP infrastructure investments at subproject sites throughout the country.  Specific services included formulation of rules and regulations for LAR under Government of Mongolia development projects, preparation of Asian Development Bank Safeguard Policy Statement compliant Land Acquisition and Resettlement Plans for individual subprojects, and development and delivery of training workshops on LAR policies and implementation arrangements for national and local level government officials involved with LAR activities.

The social safeguard standards observed in the preparation and implementation of the Land Acquisition and Resettlement Plans for the UDSP sub-projects not only prescribed fair treatment for affected persons and communities, but also set out practical guides to planning and implementation of the subprojects.
