
Michelle has skillsets in community development, stakeholder engagement, social impact management, facilitation, and project management. She has over ten years of experience working with non-profits, governments and corporations. Michelle has worked with extractive proponents to produce local economic development strategies; comprehensive community well-being indicators; and multi-stakeholder processes. She has also developed a process/tool for assessing the social license to operate, a framework for social closure planning, and community-based programs for vulnerable groups. Moreover, has also contributed to the preparation of a number of Resettlement and Livelihood Restoration Plans on a variety of rePlan managed resettlements in Latin America and Africa. She is familiar with international standards and Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC). Michelle has lived and worked internationally in Mexico, Guatemala, Benin and Switzerland.
Michelle has an International MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University where she specialized in strategy and sustainability. She also has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of British Columbia which focused on peace and conflict studies, conflict resolution and international law. She is proficient in French and Spanish.
